Client Spotlight: The OIST Philanthropy Impact Report
Though it was only founded in 2011, the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) has already become one of the top-ranked research institutions in the world.
OIST is largely — but not entirely — funded by the Japanese government. That “not entirely” is where OIST’s first philanthropy impact report comes in. With an increase in private contributions over the school’s first decade, they knew it was time to begin reporting back to donors on the impact of their gifts.
Working in close partnership with leaders from OIST and the U.S.-based OIST Foundation, Emily wove the university’s suggested themes into a 12-page publication (completed on time and on budget) that captures the research, education, and innovation donors help to make possible.
That work begins on campus and carves a path across Japan and the world, which is how we presented it in the report — starting locally and expanding outward. That path is represented by the continuing red line of the OIST logo throughout the piece, thanks to the graphic design talents of Andrew Oster.
